Foshan China Travel

Guangzhou, often known as the canton, is the capital of the southern Chinese province of Guangdong, and Foshan, although it has about seven million inhabitants, feels like an extension of Guangzhou and is relatively little known. Our guide from Dongguan City shares his tips and stories with us in our latest Backpacking in China Tips Story. It is said that Guang City, GuangDong Province and Guangshan are the same city, but despite the fact that they have about 7.5 million inhabitants, Fashan has been known as a tourist destination for about a decade and a half and is relatively unknown to most people.

Foshan Airport already offers direct flights to Guangzhou and Guangdong as well as Hong Kong and Macau. It is located in the southern part of Guangdong province, about 30 km south of the capital, and has an expressway that runs from north to south from the canton of Guang Zhou and from south to Macao. Zhongshan has a series of waterways that connect it with parts of the delta and is a major tourist destination with a railway line connecting it to Dongguan City and the rest of southern China. Fashan is one of China's most popular tourist destinations with railways and has the second highest population per capita in China, behind Shenzhen.

We strongly recommend extending your Foshan tour for another China exploration trip with a visit to Zhongshan, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Macau, Shenzhen or Guangdong for a more intense experience.
